When the now infamous color-changing dress popped up on my newsfeed, I thought it was a joke. Obviously, this is a white and gold dress, how could it not be?? I pulled out my phone at a meeting the next day and showed the image to a colleague. “It’s black and blue, what are you talking about?" Then much like the rest of the world, I thought I was losing my mind!
There have been several theories as to why we see the dress in different colors. One theory suggested that those who have high functioning retina cones saw the dress as black and blue, while those whose eyes don’t work as well in dim light, saw white and gold. Whether this theory is true or false, the health of our eyes is something we take a bit for granted. Here are a few foods you can include in your diet to protect your baby blues (or browns, or greens!)
To Protect Against Macular Degeneration of the Eyes- Leafy Greens, Citrus Fruit, Berries, Vitamin C, Whole Grains, Legumes
To Protect Against Cataracts- Pumpkin, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Eggs
To Protect Against Dry Eyes- Almonds, Vitamin E, Tuna, Salmon
No matter what color the dress may be, the health of your eyes is not up for debate. Make sure you are including some of these foods everyday to protect your eyes and your point of view!
