Congrats to our Transformation Tuesday star, Richard!
How long have you been coming to Nutrish Mish? What made you start?
I started 2 weeks before mid-December 2019. I weighed around 200ish My clothes were getting a bit tighter and it almost time to go shopping for the next size up. I have been doing this for a long time something had to give. My doctors were stating that I need to lose a few pounds but never gave me something to work with.
What has been the biggest transformation you have seen in yourself (mindset wise, habit wise, etc)?
The biggest transformation is what I eat. When I worked in Jersey City (LIRR to Penn Station and then the PATH), have something before going to the station, stopping at dunkin for doughnuts, lunch was taking the ferry back to the seaport area, the afternoon snack, and a snack and maybe a beer on the train home and then dinner. This went on for 6 years before I switched jobs (no more doughnuts but a bran muffin took its place. I am still in the city but my eating habits are more structured.
What made this time different then other times you have tried to get healthier or lose weight?
This is not a diet, it’s just changing a few unhealthy habits into better ones. I cut out a lot of “crap” foods that made me happy (a bag of chips, not the small one, the big one you get at Costco/BJs and the bag will be empty when I was done). This adventure taught me portion control, I figured out what I can indulge on maintain my goal and what to really cut back on (but will still eat it) and add something else to the meal.
What advice would you have for someone just starting with Nutrish Mish?
It will take some time to change what you are used to. In the beginning, Danielle Monheit and I worked on breakfast, morning snack and lunch tweaking it and then tweaked everything else. It still needs tweaking but I am comfortable at where I am, and that is the only thing that matters.
If you can understand the color scheme of the program, that is 50% of the work. The other 50% is the willpower/want/need to succeed.
And YES, there can be alcohol, but in moderation!!
Favorite NM Product/Recipe?
Eggplant whatever recipes. They are easy to make. Also the different ways to make chicken.
Anything else you would like to add:
From the results that I am seeing, this is not a yo-yo fad. I really appreciate the hard work that Danielle did with me to really understand this change in my life style.
I got to finish my Guinness before it gets warm.
