When the hot weather sets in, sometimes we want something a little more fun than H2O to keep us cool. What would summer be without frozen treats? Here are some super nutritious ways to cool down and satisfy your sweet tooth!

1. Fruit & Yogurt Pops

In a blender, blend your favorite yogurt with your favorite fresh fruit. Consistency should be like a thick smoothie. Sweeten to taste and portion them out into popsicle molds.
Freeze for a few hours and you've got a protein packed frozen treat!

2. Healthy Froyo

Place about 1/2 to 1 cup plain greek yogurt with 3 to 4 cups of frozen fruit in a food processor and sweeten to taste (with stevia or other natural sweetener). Process until a creamy, 'soft serve' consistency is reached. Eat as is or freeze for 30 min for a "scoopable" consistency. Experiment with different flavors, or even add protein powder, nut butter, etc. Serve immediately or transfer to an airtight container and store in the freezer.

Makes about 4-5 servings.

Try out this Banana PB flavor:

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 4 oz plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 5 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup cashew / almond milk

or how about Mango:

  • 2 cups frozen mango chunks
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • stevia to taste

Food process/blend until smooth. Serve as is or freeze until scoopable!

3. Frozen Tea Ice Pops

Brew your favorite herbal tea, let cool, and put into ice pop molds. Add in fruit slices or berries and freeze for a few hours. Zero calorie treat, can't get easier!

4. Healthy Fudgesicles

There's a secret ingredient in these, but don't let it turn you away. In a food processor or high speed blender, combine

-2 large avocados,
-1/3 cup cocoa powder,
-1 scoop chocolate protein,
-3/4 cup milk of choice,
-1 tsp vanilla extract,
- few spoonfuls of stevia, to taste, and just a pinch of salt. Process until smooth and split into popsicle molds and freeze.

5. Healthy "Frappuccino"

Normally chock full of extra sugar and calories, you can make a frozen coffee drink at home, probably for much cheaper too! Simply blend a cup of your favorite coffee (cooled) with a couple handfuls of ice, milk of choice, stevia to taste. Try adding some cocoa powder or chocolate protein for a mocha vibe. Go ahead, top with a little whipped cream.
