How long have you been coming to Nutrish Mish? What made you start?
I started with Nutrish Mish right before the pandemic lockdown in March 2020, on a recommendation from a longtime member. It was perfect timing!
What has been the biggest transformation you have seen in yourself (mindset wise, habit wise, etc)?
My eating habits and mindset have transformed in lots of small ways that make a huge difference. The biggest change I notice is the automatic way I can now mentally plan for balanced meals and snacks, and how I think about food as fuel. Also, learning that better eating habits were my primary source of progress, rather than exercise, helped relieve me of the guilt I used to feel on days that I didn't work out.
What was a misconception you had before starting Nutrish Mish? In what way has your mindset on food/nutrition/health changed?
I kept trying to eliminate food groups, minimize calorie intake, and exercise my way to losing weight. It was incredibly frustrating to work out consistently, feel 'deprived' of my favorite foods, and still see minimal progress toward my goals. My misconception that I could exercise my way out of bad eating habits had to go!
What made this time different then other times you have tried to get healthier or lose weight?
My weight loss was steady, and it's been very simple to maintain after I built the good foundational habits that Kim taught me. It doesn't actually feel like I'm 'maintaining' anything anymore! Now it's just how I eat.
What advice would you have for someone just starting with Nutrish Mish?
If you have zero sense of portions like I did, get a scale and measure things precisely until you get the hang of the portions of your staple foods.
Favorite Recipe/ NM Product?:
I love the Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers, I make a variation on them almost every week. The Buffalo Chicken Meatballs and Spinach/Feta Turkey Burgers are really tasty and easy too!
